Generative Design

Personal Project (2019)

Role:

Industrial Designer

This was my personal project during my last year of art college. This was shown at the AAU spring show.

Intentionally designed to mimic the tree branch. The objective of the table design was to learn and explore the design capability of new design/engineering software, generative design.

The first direction was to use the generative design as a whole leg structure.

The second direction was to use the generative design as individual parts. This idea gave me an opportunity to explore various joint systems.

The final direction uses six-point leg support to maximize the leg room while strengthening the table. Combined with the press-fitting joint system to show irregular nature element on the top surface.

Simplified design form and extruded top spoke for press-fitting to the table top.
